1. HydraFacial
How does it work?
Basically it’s microdermabrasion, but better. “The HydraFacial offers more than the microdermabrasion treatment. It not only removes surface damage but also replenishes the skin with antioxidants,” says Dr. Garry Cussell from The Facial Rejuvenation Centre. It helps clear up congestion, and yes, it helps reduce blackheads too – all while pumping moisture and nourishing ingredients back into the skin. You can see a video of the HydraFacial in action here.

A small device head was moved over my skin, and it felt like a little vacuum nozzle was touching my face – rest assured it was all very gentle. During the treatment a mild peel was also administered, and vitamin and antioxidant-infused products were also applied. All up it took about 40 minutes.

What’s your verdict?

I’m prone to flushing, so I was a little pink afterwards (just like I’d been exercising moderately – nothing major) but that faded within an hour. My skin felt incredibly smooth and the congestion around my chin and nose was reduced. I had a little bit of flaking on the second and third day, but by day five my skin looked the best it had in yonks – it glowed like I’d been drinking green smoothies and doing sun salutations every day.

Where can I get it?

I had my HydraFacial at The Facial Rejuvenation Clinic in Sydney, but HydraFacial is available around the country at selected clinics and salons. To find out which clinic near you offers the treatment, call 1300 309 233.

How much will it cost me?

Expect to pay between $150 and $180.
