Dermal Filler
Dermal filler injections are an increasingly popular option among both men and women who are looking to achieve a more youthful appearance, but without resorting to invasive procedures such as a facelift. There are several different types of dermal filler injection, although most are now based on substances that are naturally found in the body, and give temporary, rather than lasting, results.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most popular dermal fillers used in injections, and some of the recognisable brand names are based on this substance. Over time, the injected dermal filler will be reabsorbed into the tissues of the body, so the procedure will need to be repeated on a regular basis in order to maintain a younger appearance. Each dermal filler injection lasts approximately nine months. This type of filler is most effective at treating fine lines and wrinkles that are not too deep.
Some dermal filler injections use transplanted fat cells to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. These will be removed from elsewhere in the body, which means that there is a low risk of rejection. However, not all of the cells will survive the transplantation, so the wrinkles will be over-filled during the treatment. While this may look a little strange at first, it will soon settle down and give the appearance you are hoping to achieve.
There are many different types of dermal filler injection, and you will need to discuss the options with your doctor before you decide which would be the most suitable method for you.
