Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a method of rejuvenating the skin to help produce a younger looking appearance. It involves the injection of a number of substances into the skin in order to promote the growth of new skin cells and supportive tissues such as collagen. The substances that may be used for this minimally invasive cosmetic treatment include vitamins and minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid, which is now commonly used as a dermal filler. Although it sounds like an artificial chemical, hyaluronic acid is derived from a natural substance found in the body.

The majority of areas on the body can be treated using mesotherapy, and it can be used on large areas as well as small ones. Most people are suitable for this procedure, which is considered to be minimally invasive as there is no surgery involved, but it does require the use of needles. The treatment uses natural substances that are found in the body, but reduce in quantity as a result of ageing, leading to dull and lifeless skin. Mesotherapy replaces these substances and gives a brighter appearance.

The risk of side effects from this procedure is very low, although you may experience some bruising, swelling and redness around the injection sites. This should quickly resolve after the treatment. It is highly unlikely that there will be any serious side effects, unless you have an allergy to one of the substances used in the treatment. You should discuss the advantages and risks of the procedure with your practitioner before you undergo any form of treatment.
